Doctor shopping ahs become a term that is gaining popularity in South Florida. Along with in the number of pain management clinics that are dotting the city is a very serious issue to think about. What is happening and why is the question that is flirting with every mind. The growing number of cases has made the take a serious turn. The government has laid rules about the use of drugs in curbing the pain of the patients but
these laws and rules are seem to be falling on deaf ears. The main cause for growth of these cases and the failure to combat them is the fact that this problems stems at a very personal level. One can stop the doctors from prescribing illicit drugs but one cannot stop the patients from using the drugs in high quantities and one can do nothing to stop the trend of “doctor shopping” that is gaining momentum day by day. Illicit use of drugs hampers life and takes a toll on number of families. Drugs like oxycontin are being used extensively. The side effect of this drug ranges from minor numbness to death. The main problem is that once the victims start depending on these drugs, the dependency can not be stopped easily. What exactly is meant by the term “doctor shopping”?
Doctor shopping is the practice of going from one doctor to another to get the prescriptions so that the addicts can get the drugs that they require authentically. They amass pain pills and other illicit drugs either for personal use or for sale. This practice has become very common in Florida and the case is becoming more serious each day. This practice is taking lives of numerous people and there seems to be very less that any one can do about it. The state officials have decided to launch an awareness campaign that will make the people aware of the hazards of drug abuse and the problems that they might face legally if they are caught in the case of drug abuse. To put a stop to “doctor shopping” South Florida and state officials have made it known that they will be launching a computer database to keep a track of how many times a prescription is being used. Any prescription with medicine names like lethal narcotic pills and also anti-depressants will be kept on record and their uses will be kept in track. This will help the multiple use of one prescription to get lethal drugs.

Some times we suffer from severe pain due to some accident or any other reason. Our doctor prescribes a medicine that alleviates the pain and gives some relief from the excruciating pain. What we do not know that such medicines can push us into the OxyContin addiction without our knowledge.
With growing number of pain management clinics popping up in Florida, it is a cause of concern for us. Many people can restrict their use of prescribed pain killers till the prescribed time, however some people get so used to the effects of the pain killer drugs that they fall prey to the OxyContin addiction. There are behavioral and physical symptoms which show that a person is OxyContin addict.
The pain management clinics in Florida have started sprouting up all of a sudden. Use of OxyContin decreases the brain’s ability to receive pain messages from various organs in the body and the drug fires up the pleasurable feeling. However if this drug is taken excessively, your ability to concentrate decreases giving you depressed feelings with abnormal food cravings and you might feel hopeless in all the activities you do.
Doctor shopping that is going from doctor to doctor faking certain pain to get pain killers for either selling purpose or abuse has increased in Florida. It is a cause of concern as the side effects of the pain killer drugs like OxyContin are more severe if taken excessively without expert supervision. In September 2006, a 73 year old man was arrested with more than hundred OxyContin and other pain killer pills which he said to have collected from various doctors faking pain.
In the month of March 2010, a housewife from Florida was arrested for doctor shopping pain killers. Such incidents are increasing and the use of pain killers to satiate the drug addiction is going to show its real teeth in near future. We need to take steps towards decreasing doctor shopping in Florida and other states by maintaining some system and database that can prevent the illegal use of drugs.
With the help of Doctor Shopping Bill in Florida, government also is taking steps towards prevention of abuse of prescription drugs. The pharmacists are now by law responsible to provide this information to the State Government. Now it is possible to track the person who took the prescription drugs containing OxyContin and other pain killers.
Let us take some steps to stop the drug abuse for healthy future.

Why are Pain Management Clinics necessary?
Last Updated on Tuesday, 4 May 2010 11:19 Written by blogmaster Friday, 5 March 2010 02:25
Drug has been infuriating the world since years. Despite of prolonged effort many countries have not been successful in curbing out the menace from their society. Florida is one of the states, which is fighting against this threat since decades. Drug has penetrated its obnoxious claws so deep into the state that the anti-drug agencies sometimes do not able to fathom out the ways to get rid of this threat. The infringement of drug into the society is a complex cycle. The demand that arises from the dark parts of society is fulfilled by the notorious drug traffickers. Even if
the authorities some how manages to control the smuggling of drugs, the addicts will manage to obtain it by any means.
In order to completely eradicate the problem from the society, we have to reach to the roots of the problem. Therefore it is important to treat the drug addicts, which will eventually lead to the eradication of drug abuse completely from the society. A person becomes a victim of drug addiction generally through two ways. When a person goes through an emotional turbulence, then he/she is likely to get under the trap of drugs, as they provide a temporary relief form their emotional trauma. The victims under this category usually consume drugs that are banned, such as cocaine, marijuana, etc. where as there are some persons who has a very low threshold for bearing pain. Painkillers such as OxyCotin and Oxycodone provide them a quick relief from the pain they go through. When the victim consume these drugs frequently, then he/she becomes physically dependent on them, and by the time they come to know about it, they finds themselves completely under its trap. Hence overdose of these painkillers can lead to drug addiction; this is the reason behind the development of so many Pain Management Clinics in Florida.
Pain management clinics are the medical institution that teaches how to cope up with pain. Their treatment includes medications, physical approach, interventional procedures, and psychological approach as well. In Florida there are numerous Pain Management clinics. They follow a very effective methodology for the treatment of chronic pain through controlled and minimal use of drugs. But before you go for a pain relief clinic in Florida, always make it sure that doctors and practitioners must have a legal license and they should not have any bad medical history.

Is OxyCotin boon or bane for Florida?

Drug menace has been troubling the world since many years. Anti-drug authorities are having a tough time in dealing with the deadly disease. Drug abuse has penetrated itself so deeply into the society that even the strongest and developed country is finding them miserable. The supply and consumption cycle of drugs is very much complex. Authorities find it very tough to deal with the notorious smugglers and traffickers who are poisoning the societies. Alike many states of America, Florida is also going through the hitch of drug menace. Every now and then you can
hear about different cases of drub abuse or seized drugs.
When we talk about drugs and the addiction towards it, then the names of various drugs that appears in our mind is generally cocaine, marijuana, heroin, etc. anti-drug agencies have been successful to an extent in curbing out the trafficking of these drugs. But the problem arises when they cannot have control over some drugs, such as OxyContin. Oxycontin is a medically prescribed drug and it is used for treating chronic pain. In Florida it is easily available at any drug store, and anyone having a prescription from a licensed physician can easily access it. OxyContin is a painkiller if taken in a limited and controlled amount. But over frequent consumption of OxyContin, it can lead to hazardous consequences and the victim will get addicted to it. At first the victim doesn’t realize that he/she is getting addicted to it, but by the time to come to know about it, it becomes too late.
With prolonged use of OxyCotin, the life of a victim goes out of track completely. The victim will become completely dependent on OxyCotin, both physically and emotionally. The victim will crave for the drug and he/she will try to obtain it at any cost, such as attending physicians faking an illness in order to obtain a prescription and sometimes even fake prescriptions. The reason that leads to the addiction of OxyCotin is increment in the level of dopamine in the brain, which is caused due to frequent consumption of this drug. The release of dopamine in the brain gives rise to pleasurable feelings. But for this momentarily pleasure, the victim forgets about the negative consequences of this addiction.
Addiction to OxyCotin has cost many lives in Florida. During the year 2000 many people lost their life due to overdose of OxyCotin. It has badly struck people between the age group 14 to 25, with school and university students are the majority victims.
