Florida is a flourishing hub for the major international drug trade organizations of America. The strategic location of the state, the perfect geographical surroundings, rich sea port and short distance from South America and West Indies, makes Florida one of the most ideal states in America for all kinds of drug trafficking. With such a great scope of drug trade in the state, the ethnic gangs have made this state a haven for expanding their illegal drug transportation and distribution. The state serves as the major thoroughfare in the U.S for the shipment of illegal drugs like heroin and cocaine into the north eastern part of United States and Canada.
The security was heightened in the Miami International Airport after the 9/11 episode. But even then, the airport serves as the prime platform for the transportation of heroin and MDMA. Once these drug smugglers manage to slip inside Florida, they infiltrate almost all the counties of the state distributing the drugs. Smuggling of this drug occurs in various ways in the state. While some traffickers transport the drugs via trucks, boats and vans, there are others who choose the cargo freighters, and commercial or private aircrafts for transporting the drugs. In addition to these, interstate transport of drugs is also very popular in Florida.
The state of Florida is dominated by the Columbian and Mexican Drug Trade Organizations. These organizations are the main transporters of drug in the state. In Florida, all kinds of drugs are widely abused be it cocaine, heroin, marijuana or any other. Another of the popular drug that does its round throughout the state is Methamphetamine. Cocaine is the most commonly abused drug in Florida. Majority of this drug is transported into the state via interstates, sea and air. The demand for this drug is so high there that every possible way of transportation has been used to smuggle in the drug.
Once cocaine reaches the soils of Florida, it is repackaged and sent further to the North East in ships. Club drugs are also extremely popular in Florida. The state serves as the global hub for MDMA shipment. These drugs are pooled in from South America, West Indies and Europe. Heroin is another drug which is abused in Florida. However, it is not as popular as the other drugs. Even then, it is readily available almost everywhere in the state. For the last two decades, the purity, consistency and even the price of this drug has remained the same here.
