Drug menace has been troubling the world since many years. Anti-drug authorities are having a tough time in dealing with the deadly disease. Drug abuse has penetrated itself so deeply into the society that even the strongest and developed country is finding them miserable. The supply and consumption cycle of drugs is very much complex. Authorities find it very tough to deal with the notorious smugglers and traffickers who are poisoning the societies. Alike many states of America, Florida is also going through the hitch of drug menace. Every now and then you can
hear about different cases of drub abuse or seized drugs.
When we talk about drugs and the addiction towards it, then the names of various drugs that appears in our mind is generally cocaine, marijuana, heroin, etc. anti-drug agencies have been successful to an extent in curbing out the trafficking of these drugs. But the problem arises when they cannot have control over some drugs, such as OxyContin. Oxycontin is a medically prescribed drug and it is used for treating chronic pain. In Florida it is easily available at any drug store, and anyone having a prescription from a licensed physician can easily access it. OxyContin is a painkiller if taken in a limited and controlled amount. But over frequent consumption of OxyContin, it can lead to hazardous consequences and the victim will get addicted to it. At first the victim doesn’t realize that he/she is getting addicted to it, but by the time to come to know about it, it becomes too late.
With prolonged use of OxyCotin, the life of a victim goes out of track completely. The victim will become completely dependent on OxyCotin, both physically and emotionally. The victim will crave for the drug and he/she will try to obtain it at any cost, such as attending physicians faking an illness in order to obtain a prescription and sometimes even fake prescriptions. The reason that leads to the addiction of OxyCotin is increment in the level of dopamine in the brain, which is caused due to frequent consumption of this drug. The release of dopamine in the brain gives rise to pleasurable feelings. But for this momentarily pleasure, the victim forgets about the negative consequences of this addiction.
Addiction to OxyCotin has cost many lives in Florida. During the year 2000 many people lost their life due to overdose of OxyCotin. It has badly struck people between the age group 14 to 25, with school and university students are the majority victims.

Nothing can be more deadly than a slow death caused by the frequent consumption of drugs. Addiction to drugs kills a victim slowly and steadily, by the time the victim realizes anything, he/she is already under the trap and there is no way out. Drug menace is not new to Florida. It has been fighting for years against this poisonous threat. The government and the anti-drug agencies can keep a check on the trafficking and smuggling of drugs, but they are fining it tough to deal with a nuisance called, Doctor Shopping. It is a term which is used to describe the method applied by the drug addicts to obtain drugs by faking an illness. They follow the practice of attending various doctors and physician
citing an illness, so that the physician can issue a prescription.
The reason is quite obvious; they cannot stop themselves away from drugs. Upon frequent consumption they become both physically and emotionally dependent on them. As a result they begin to crave for them, and look for various means to obtain the same. Going for the Doctor shopping is the easiest and the safest way they can have. The medicines that are commonly found in every medical store and which is also a substitute for drugs are OxyCotin and Oxycodone. The purpose for which they are used also makes them one of the widely available medicine, both of them are painkillers. Therefore patients do not have to produce any serious symptoms of illness.
Almost all the drug stores in Florida openly sell these kinds of medicines for their selfish purpose. The huge demand for these drugs lures the pain mills to flourish there business, but in this greed they forget its horrendous consequences. Almost every year in Florida around 2000 people loose their lives due to overdose of the prescribed drug. If we compare the number death caused by the prescribed medicines to the death caused by banned drugs like marijuana and cocaine, then we will come to know that the magnitude of former is almost thrice of the latter.
To bring into control the situation, recently a bill was passed to introduce a law, which will prevent the pain clinics from over prescribing drugs. Along with, a database will be maintained that will keep track the information related to the prescribing of drugs. With the introduction of this law, it is expected that the authorities of Florida will be able to control the drug menace.

GROWTH IN THE DRUG POSSESSION IN FLORIDA
Last Updated on Tuesday, 4 May 2010 11:22 Written by blogmaster Friday, 5 March 2010 02:05
Florida has been inflated with immense amount of drug abuse. Children aging below twenty years have been found to possess drugs like Marijuana. This drug is considered to be very deadly and illegal possession of it or if the minors are found with this drug, it is considered as crime in Florida. Such was the case when children from Hobbs Middle Scholl were found with this drug. They were slapped with charges though their names were kept as a secret as they were still minors. With the support of the fellow student the addicts were caught easily and hence a
check was put instantly for the betterment of the society and children.
The doctors in Florida have been found to give prescriptions including the names of such drugs that may cause addiction. So, efforts have been taken to screen the prescriptions of doctors by creating a drug database in the state. This has been accomplished by introducing a bill. After the implementation of this bill it would be easy to check the medications given by the doctors. Oxycodone is an example of such medication and is considered to be a narcotic painkiller. This entire concept of using addiction drugs in the prescriptions and keeping a track of it is called as doctor shopping. This has been increasing a lot in the state and is meant to be an offensive crime under law.
The medical oxycontin is being highly used by the doctors in Florida. This drug contains the component oxycodone which is addictive in nature. The usage of this drug is similar to that of cocaine and heroin. It is used to suppress moderate pain associated with fractures and injuries. The side effects of this drug are also very deadly as it is harmful for the aged people and causes respiratory depression.
Florida is very susceptible to drug abuses and hence the growth of the pain management clinics in Florida has also increased. These pain centers basically understand and help us in managing the chronic pain through correct use of medications. By helping in controlling the pain of the people they enhance and improve their lifestyle. For a healthier and safer atmosphere it is necessary for the people of the state to discourage the use of such drugs as well as it becomes the social responsibility of the doctors not to prescribe such drugs as the after effects are very serious and dangerous.
